The every day dilemma of preparing yourself in the morning must be getting on everyone’s nerve nowadays. the hustle and bustle in the morning while being on tight sechdule is the ultimate nightmare for all of us. Personally, the mornings was always my worst part of the day on workdays , i couldn’t get the time to have a coffee and try to relax before heading to work or school because how crammed and rushed am i. I tried the counsels of many friends , online articles and even the advice of my mother !. But yet nothing worked to avoid dressing in rush and going out in a mess every morning ?!
The answer was in fact simple enough in every way possible. Here’s some simple easy steps i personally do that may help you save time and go out neat and presentable…
Get a pen and paper and write down everything you do since the moment you open your eyes till you step out of the doorway. Mostly it will be shower , dressing , coffee , emails and newspaper. Now lets adress each problem separately.
1)Showering: my problem was taking too much in the shower . Yes,i know the shower is the place we take life decisions and relax but we have an already busy morning ahead. So the best thing to do is set a time to shower , say 15 minutes as max , and put the alarm to ring after those minutes elapse.
2)Preparing a healthy breakfast: mostly we ignore eating in the morning because we are rushed. But if you need an energized mind and a nice day , you have to consider not skipping the breakfast. An easy way to have time for it is by preparing a simple salad or sandwich and keeping it in the fridge the night before. This will save you the time to stand in the kitchen and make food. For people who need the caffeine , keep the coffee powder and milk near the coffee machine to save the time of wondering from cabinet to another.
3) Dressing up: Here is a 100% way to save time matching clothes , prepare your outfit before going to sleep. Before going to bed , take 5 minutes to get out the clothes you want to wear next day out of the closet and match them. This will save you from wasting time matching pieces of clothes in the morning. If the day was long and you are too tired to do this , simple use the time while you are laying in bed waiting for sleep to mentally plan the outfit .
4)Reading emails and newspaper: while this is very important for some people to catch up with their emails or the stock market , yet it is the most time wasting thing we all do. Why!? , the answer is because we just dont check the emails , we check the regular social sites while we are about , then check what this person has posted and we find ourselves suddenly immersed in commenting , liking and retweeting while time is already running out. So , again set a timer for yourself to check important emails and news , avoid social sites and keep a clock near by so you check how much time you have left.
5)Finding time to relax: while this is not necessary , yet this is the whole point of saving time. After applying all those steps , you will have few moments before you start your day. Use those wisely and do things that helps you stay positive all day. This may be a call to your parents , listening to a favorite singer , watching a funny show or for me setting back with a book in my lap and a piece of chocolate.
